About Elaine Bucknum

Personal Philosophy

As a counselor, Elaine’s goal is to foster the dignity of her clients and assist them in managing crises and move on to meaningful lives.

Elaine’s Bio

Elaine majored in Psychology, graduating with distinction, from the University of Alberta and earned a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Calgary.  A life-long learner, she has taken training in marital therapy with Seattle’s Dr. John Gottman, from Dr. Sue Johnson of the Ottawa Couple and Family Institute, and from the Vancouver Couple and Family Institute. She has trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in both Vancouver and Seattle.  Her mediation training began in Calgary at the Legal Education Society of Alberta and has studied development of parenting plans and parent coordination at various seminars and conferences, including the University of Calgary and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

Elaine is an EFAP provider (Employee and Family Assistance Program) and assists those individuals/couples/families to take quick action and develop strategies to resolve and/or mange their concerns before they become a significant issue.  She believes that the well being of employees is a crucial component of organizational functionality.
